Welcome to the New Year!
I hope you managed to take a break over the festive period and are coming back recharged and ready for whatever 2025 has to throw at us.
2024 was a year of transition for me. Twelve months of adapting from being ME to being part of US (after a bit of a whirlwind I got engaged in July! đź’Ť). It was hard at times. I travelled less but learned a lot more about myself and how the last 10 years (since losing my husband) has changed me.
I feel like it’s the start of the next chapter. And I have a lot planned!
Bearing in mind the adage that sharing makes you more accountable, I thought I would take this as an opportunity to lay out my intentions for the coming year.
Where can you find me and where am I going (in travel and in life!)?
Why might you want to join me there?
What can you expect if you do?
So, this year I am starting with big plans and a fresh page. So…
At the end of last year, I finally launched my new Find Your Way Programme. Find Your Way: The Ultimate Guide to Starting Your Travel Journey is a 6-week course designed for women in midlife who dream of travelling but feel unsure where to start. With over 6 hours of practical video tutorials, worksheets, journal prompts and personalised guidance, you’ll learn to confidently plan and book your dream trip—whether solo or with friends. From overcoming fears to mastering logistics like budgeting and packing, this course has everything you need. Plus, enjoy membership to a supportive travel community.
What more could you ask for? Especially if you have plans to shake things up a little in 2025. I’ve distilled 30 years of travel experience and made all the mistakes so you can learn from them. I couldn’t be prouder of how the programme has shaped up and cannot wait to share it with you. If you want to learn more, check out THIS LINK or hit reply to this email with any questions. Why not rediscover yourself and embrace the transformative power of travel? Is this the year you turn your dreams into unforgettable adventures?!
I also started the NEW Facebook Group so if you haven’t already, then now is your chance to get on board. The group is called Women Over 40 Who Love Travel – Transform Through Travel. I will be going LIVE in the group monthly to talk various travel topics and answer any questions you have. The first is on Thursday 16th January at 6pm GMT (1PM EST) where the title will be How to Make Travel Transformational. Click HERE to join the group and the event. Or if you’re not on Facebook, you can use THIS LINK.
In addition, there will be regular features where we can all share questions, goals, challenges and triumphs. In my new feature Where Why What Wednesday, I discuss an amazing destination each week (most recently it was the North Coast 500 road trip in Scotland). Every Friday we will share our travel favourites based on the weekly theme (travel app, holiday read, quote, accessories, packing tips etc.). Then monthly it will be memories from our travelling pasts and fails and mishaps (of which I have many!!). Please come over and join the fun. You never know where it may lead!
Talking of going LIVE I will also be embarking on a lot more webinars. I have been lucky enough to be a guest speaker on several podcasts, broadcasts and events over the last few years, so I thought it was time to start my own. (Did you listen to my latest podcast just before Christmas on the Transformative Power of Travelling Alone? Click HERE if you missed it). Watch this space for future dates and links so you can join in wherever in the world you are. I also intend to speak more in person so if you are based in the South East of England, I could be coming to a venue near you soon!
I am also committed to showing up more consistently on LinkedIn, Instagram and of course YouTube. Join me wherever suits you best by following the links.
But if none of that floats your boat then I have epic travel plans afoot for the year. Firstly, I am back on the Camino de Santiago but this time bigger, longer and more transformationally (is that even a word…computer seems to be saying no?!). After spending a week walking 100kms on the Portuguese route last year, it felt like it was over when we had just got into the swing of things. This year I am tackling a much bigger challenge with a month (or more if that’s what it takes) on the Camino Frances, the most popular route from France along the north of Spain.
Then in July I am doing something very out of character.
I am going on a cruise!
I have written the words here before that “I would rather stick pins in my eyes” but I have been persuaded! Not only on a cruise, but on a luxury cruise on the Queen Mary 2. My partner knows the vessel well and apparently there’s a lot of dressing up involved (didn’t I mention that it was out of character?!). But it’s not just any cruise destination, it’s the Norwegian Fjords which, if I’m honest, was the thing that swung my decision to say “Yes!”. I will embrace the experience and be reporting everything back in the summer.
Last but by no means least, is a monumental adventure which we have planned for the end of the year. A journey from London to Singapore by land, via public transport. So far it is a dream, but we know it is possible. A lot of research awaits but don’t go anywhere if you want a front seat to all the twists and turns of taking such an epic trip.
And did I mention that this is also the year I get married and start a big property Grand Designs project?
Hopefully 🤞.
We have been waiting for what seems like forever to find out if our offer has been accepted. Watch this space! So, {{ subscriber.first_name }}, what are your plans for 2025 and where will your travels take you? I’d love to know. Hit reply to this email to give me all the details.
Apart from everything I’ve already mentioned, I also have NEW VIDEO on YouTube and my first from my most recent Namibian adventure. Check it out now HERE to experience the surreal beauty of Deadvlei and an iconic view of the dramatic sand dunes at sunrise! Whether you’re planning your Namibian adventure or simply dreaming of the ultimate desert escape, this video is packed with tips and stunning visuals to inspire your journey.
And just in case you missed it, check out my last video release from 2024 and join me to discover the breathtaking island of Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Mythical stone circles, endless pristine beaches and scenic drives along very expensive roads await you if you do!
Did you find this email useful? If so, why not forward it to a friend?
Until next time,
Safe Travels

🏠For accommodation, I use Booking.com. They have their Genius loyalty scheme which is easy to progress through the levels for better discounts and inclusions.
🚍 For tours and activities, my preferred supplier is Get Your Guide.
🗺️ For multi day or week tours, check out G Adventures. I used them for trips in Costa Rica, Peru, and Galapagos.
🤞 I would never leave home without travel insurance. With Safety Wing you can take out an annual policy and pay monthly. This takes the hassle out of having to remember for us regular travellers.
🛫 For cheap flights, check out Skyscanner or join Jacks Flight Club which scans the internet for error fares (UK only).
🧳 For luggage storage on your travels, I recommend the service by Bounce.
