This week is a special one for food lovers, because on Friday 16th, the world comes together to mark World Food Day. The United Nations’ theme this year is “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”, a reminder that food connects us: our health, our planet, our sense of culture and belonging.
If you’ve been here a while, you’ll know what an advocate I am for solo travel. I’ve written numerous blog posts sharing my experiences – the good, the bad, and the downright ugly – packed with advice for those who might be a little more reticent about setting off alone. But lately, life has changed. I recently remarried, and with my husband newly retired, solo trips may become less frequent. Naturally, I’ve had questions: Will I still travel alone? Welcome to my little corner of the internet, for women in midlife who feel the pull to explore — not just the world, but themselves.
I’ve been travelling for over 30 years, through seasons of joy, grief, reinvention and becoming. Travel didn’t just show me new places — it helped me find my way back to myself.
Here I share honest travel stories and reflections on courage, change and second acts.
