I’m back! Have you missed me?
I have to admit, it feels like ages since I last popped into your inbox — but what a couple of months it’s been!
Let me catch you up:
✨ I got married!
🥾 I hiked 500km on the Camino de Santiago as a honeymoon (or as we like to call it, our Camimoon).
🎉 My new husband officially retired — although, as a self-employed business owner, unofficially, not much has changed.
🎂 We celebrated his birthday in epic style.
🏡 And now, we’re waiting to hear whether we’ve secured a new property that would kick off a massive Grand Designs-style project.
We often reach a point where we crave more than just a holiday—we seek experiences that enrich us, challenge us, and maybe even redefine who we are. This is where an adult learning vacation comes in. Whether it’s mastering a new language, learning to sail, or finally tackling that yoga teacher training, these experiences offer a chance to step outside of your comfort zone, develop new skills, and reconnect with yourself in a meaningful way.
With Halloween around the corner (had you noticed?! 😉👻), I thought I would jump on the bandwagon this week to introduce a few spooky places to visit on your travels…or travel to for the day itself.
So, last weekend I was in Northern Ireland catching up with friends who I first met 36 years ago. We haven’t been together for a decade, but the years melted away as soon as we saw each other, like it was 10 days, not years!
I love a road trip! And for me, hitting the road alone is the ultimate in freedom. But a solo road trip can be a daunting prospect. I have taken the plunge in Australia, Hawaii, New Zealand & the Dominican […]
Have you made your new year’s resolutions yet? How about adding self-development to your list? Whether you are limited to staying local or keen to start to travel further afield, there is no reason to limit your imagination on how […]
After 30 years & 6 continents, travel is my passion. However, after a year of being grounded, it has given me time to reflect & think deeply about the future of the industry I love. The world has changed & […]
A road trip around the Wild Atlantic Way is the perfect way to discover Ireland. If castles, spectacular landscapes, ancient stone forts, rainbows and sampling the famous Irish hospitality interests you, then look no further. Exploring the coastline of Kerry […]
The Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland is a place to immerse yourself in beautiful views, dramatic seascapes & meet the friendly locals. A road trip around the Mizen Peninsula in Cork is one to be savoured, especially if you visit […]

Welcome to my little corner of the internet, for women in midlife who feel the pull to explore — not just the world, but themselves.
I’ve been travelling for over 30 years, through seasons of joy, grief, reinvention and becoming. Travel didn’t just show me new places — it helped me find my way back to myself.
Here I share honest travel stories and reflections on courage, change and second acts.
You don’t need to be brave yet. You’re welcome exactly as you are.
Try: courage, walking, grief, becoming, solo.
Sue Where Why What is a personal, lived-experience space.
I don’t accept guest posts or generic collaborations, and I only share places and stories I genuinely trust.
