With Halloween around the corner (had you noticed?! 😉👻), I thought I would jump on the bandwagon this week to introduce a few spooky places to visit on your travels…or travel to for the day itself.
This week marks my 55th birthday and I’m finding it hard to comprehend how life has transformed for me over the last 12 months. This time last year, I was in Turkey, enjoying a couple of the weeks sampling some of the highlights of the country, having just signed up for another dating app (this time it was Hinge).
This week I am off to Northern Ireland for a reunion with some very old friends. Not in terms of age (she says, playing hers down! 😉), but we met in the first week of university back in 1987 and have seen many marriages, births and unfortunately a few deaths throughout the group since. Needless to say, we have a lot of catching up to do!
The exact definition is “a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime”. The bucket in question refers to before you “kick the bucket”…or things to do before you die.

Welcome to my little corner of the internet, for women in midlife who feel the pull to explore — not just the world, but themselves.
I’ve been travelling for over 30 years, through seasons of joy, grief, reinvention and becoming. Travel didn’t just show me new places — it helped me find my way back to myself.
Here I share honest travel stories and reflections on courage, change and second acts.
You don’t need to be brave yet. You’re welcome exactly as you are.
Try: courage, walking, grief, becoming, solo.
