For many of us, travel can be so much more than an escape from the everyday or a chance to tick off bucket-list destinations. It can be a profound opportunity for transformation, self-discovery, and renewal. But to fully embrace this potential, it’s essential to identify your WHY for travel.
This week I had the first email which contained offers available now under the Black Friday banner. And what’s great, is that the company offering some fab (up to 30%) discounts is my favourite tour operator, G Adventures. I have done several tours with them, most notably an epic Bucket List visit to the Galapagos Islands (hence the photo), a 3-week tour of Peru & a fantastic trip around the highlights of Costa Rica.
With Halloween around the corner (had you noticed?! 😉👻), I thought I would jump on the bandwagon this week to introduce a few spooky places to visit on your travels…or travel to for the day itself.
The Caribbean has been home to some of my most memorable travel experiences, the start of some important friendships and will always hold a very fond place in my heart.
Happy World Food Day! 🌍 (for tomorrow that is!). And yes, you’re right, I am a little obsessed with food lately! Last week I shared my top tips for dining alone (if you missed it, hit reply and I’ll resend it to you).
I am still knee-deep in writing my new course which I am hoping to start recoding this week. It’s so exciting to be finally at the point of getting it out there.
For the last 10 years I have been part of a team organising a charity walk to help raise money for charity. Usually, I oversee the walkers as they set off and return, co-ordinating everything on the day. Hard work though it is, it is an environment I thrive in. Especially the “hosting” aspect of the event.
I’ve spent the last few weeks busying myself away writing the course I’ve been talking about for ages. Months. Maybe even (embarrassingly) years!
Did you miss me? Last week I took a break from your Inbox, as I was away in Madeira. I usually make sure I continue to send my weekly email, no matter where I am, so this was quite a big thing for me. But before I explain why, if you haven’t been, let me tell you a little about Madeira.

Welcome to my little corner of the internet, for women in midlife who feel the pull to explore — not just the world, but themselves.
I’ve been travelling for over 30 years, through seasons of joy, grief, reinvention and becoming. Travel didn’t just show me new places — it helped me find my way back to myself.
Here I share honest travel stories and reflections on courage, change and second acts.
You don’t need to be brave yet. You’re welcome exactly as you are.
Try: courage, walking, grief, becoming, solo.

I don’t accept guest posts or generic collaborations, and I only share places and stories I genuinely trust.
