Have you ever felt stuck in life? Like there are more experiences you need to have or places you’ve never been but feel drawn to?

How are your plans for the Christmas break shaping up? Christmas for me usually means spending time with family, but this is not without its challenges, bearing in mind we live at opposite ends of the world (they are in Australia).
I am now back from my latest adventure and can report that road tripping around Namibia, while sleeping in a roof tent was an incredible experience! The country’s vast landscapes, wildlife, and starry skies made for a truly unique camping experience.
Happy World Food Day! 🌍 (for tomorrow that is!). And yes, you’re right, I am a little obsessed with food lately! Last week I shared my top tips for dining alone (if you missed it, hit reply and I’ll resend it to you).
Over the last week I have been getting to grips with my preparation for our upcoming Namibia trip, which has involved getting up to date on all the travel vaccinations that are required.
This week I’ve started to think about my upcoming trip, back to Namibia next month. It’s an exciting prospect for many reasons.
Picture the scene. It’s 1992. I am a slightly naïve and shambolic 22-year-old British girl with huge travel ambitions. I had been working two jobs to gather the money for a “big trip” but had no idea where to, until I wandered into a travel agent who asked if I wanted to speak with their Africa expert.
A few weeks ago, I wrote about how travel can change your life (if you missed it, hit reply and I’ll send it again). From broadening your perspective to enhancing your self-confidence and creativity. But the change can only be achieved by engaging in purposeful, mindful, and immersive travel experiences. By setting clear intentions, you can achieve personal growth and create lasting, positive changes in your life.
Back in 2018, my neighbours came to me with a question. It began with:
“You know how you’re never here…?”
When was the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone? Did you dive in? Or just dance around the edge?

Welcome to my little corner of the internet, for women in midlife who feel the pull to explore — not just the world, but themselves.
I’ve been travelling for over 30 years, through seasons of joy, grief, reinvention and becoming. Travel didn’t just show me new places — it helped me find my way back to myself.
Here I share honest travel stories and reflections on courage, change and second acts.
You don’t need to be brave yet. You’re welcome exactly as you are.
Try: courage, walking, grief, becoming, solo.

I don’t accept guest posts or generic collaborations, and I only share places and stories I genuinely trust.
