Have you ever felt like life has led you to a crossroads and you’re not sure which path to take next? Do you need space to rediscover who you are and what you want now? Whatever has brought you to this point, I believe I can help you. Travel helped me to rediscover myself after tragedy and as a certified Transformative Travel Coach, I am helping others harness the power of travel too.

Are you ready to join me on a journey of inspiration, empowerment, and self-discovery?

What is a Travel Coach and how can I help you?

I am a qualified Travel Coach, certified by the Travel Coach Network with over 15 years corporate coaching experience in sales, leadership, self-development, and management as well as training others in the skills of coaching.

A Travel Coach works with you to uncover your motivations for travel. It is less about the logistics of a trip & more about the emotional, spiritual, mental & intellectual wellbeing that drives your desire to travel.

“Articulating the “why” and the “what” was surprisingly helpful. My answers to those questions provided several ideas that Sue rephrased at the end of the session into an action plan. It was quite amazing!”

A travel coach helps to uncover what the objectives are for a given trip, what transformation or feelings you are hoping to achieve, what changes you hope your travel experience will provide for you.

“Sue is an excellent listener. We had what just seemed like a great conversation, and then she’d ask a thought-provoking question that would help focus my thinking. I found getting to those deeper questions helped the ideas flow more freely because I was more conscious of the purpose of a what I wanted to do.”

I fell in love with travelling as a backpacker in my 20s. Then I returned home and fell in love with my husband, Terry. We were together for 18 very happy years. He was my best friend, my partner in crime and my ever-faithful travelling companion.

Then tragedy struck in 2014 when he went in for heart surgery and never returned to me.

The world stopped spinning. Overnight my life became unrecognisable. I felt huge loss, but I also felt lost. Everything that seemed so important before just felt so irrelevant to me now.

I was in my mid 40s and for the last 20 years had been part of a couple. I had no idea what the next chapter of my life held for me or if I was even interested in finding out.

My amazing friends and family came to the rescue for the first year. They knew my passion for travel, and I received regular invites to go on trips with them. This gave me chunks of time to be at home to come to terms with what had happened. It was peppered with interesting adventures like skiing in Canada, searching for orangutans in Borneo and spending my first birthday alone with my family in Hawaii.

Then I realised that in time the invites would dry up. Eventually everyone would go back to their lives, and I would no longer be a priority for them. I realised I needed to take control of my life again. When my workplace offered me an opportunity for redundancy, I grabbed it with both hands and went on a journey of self-discovery.

I started with writing out my Life List. It was basically a Bucket List but “things to do before you kick the bucket” was too close to home for me. I wanted a list to bring me back to life again. Unsurprisingly very travel focused, it became my roadmap for the next few years.

Through travel I was able to reconnect with myself again. It gave me time to breathe, to grieve, to heal and finally to find my smile again. It was then I decided to start a blog to help inspire others in my situation to take a journey back to themselves too.

I have now visited over 80 countries, across 6 continents and have first-hand experience of the restorative power of travel. It has helped me to find myself…twice. I believe it can do the same for you.

I spent 15 years honing my coaching skills as a sales trainer & manager in a corporate role, as well as mentoring others in developing theirs.

“I had never taken part in a coaching experience prior to my session with Sue, so it was difficult for me to prepare. Prior to our session, I provided Sue with written answers to questions that she supplied. She paid attention to those answers, and the session was very helpful, despite my feeling unprepared!”

“The session was great. I felt totally comfortable. Sue understood my situation very well. I felt the entire time that the session was about me and where I’m at with getting back into travel.”

The idea that travel could be described as “healing” didn’t really resonate with me, but I’m beginning to make that connection in my brain. Now I can’t wait to take the trip and put the plan into action!”
